Sunnyside Loft **New April 19**

Sunnyside Loft was created for the BnS Week #45 challenge titled  “City Girl”.  The challenged introduced us to an artist named Raine who was interested in an urban styled loft.  She was looking for something on the smaller side and was more interested in having her money spent on the interior of the loft as opposed to the exterior.  She requested a room for an art studio, as well as items such as a dishwasher and microwave.  Her favorite color is black and the budget was $40,000.  In order to achieve this look at this price, I resorted to using some CC, as well as employing a few “starter” tricks.  Due to her request, the landscaping on this lot is minimal.

If you are interested in reading the background story for this challenge, it can be found here on the Main Forums.  BnS Week 45 Challenge:  City Girl

Oooh! Looks like another amazing and tasteful lot by Bree! Can’t wait to see the finished product if the WIP looks this great. (But, I’ll try to be more patient waiting for this one than I was for Country Romance.) 😉 Thanks for sharing your talent, Bree. Kim

As I may have said before, MAGNIFICANT! 🙂 It’s gorgeous! The black and orange style home is beautiful, especially those curtains you put in the home. This may be a city home, but with you, you make everything so elegantly phemoninal! 🙂 Hehee, by the way, was there a certain lot in Sunset Valley (or whatever town you made it in) that you built this house on? If so, I’d be interested to know because i’ve been trying to find the perfect fit lot for this home. 🙂 Thankss!

Thanks Twilight! I included that all that extra information at the bottom of the page (below all the pictures), but just in case you missed it, the lot was build in Sunset Valley at 270 Sunnyside Blvd. It is a small 20×30 lot in front of a public pool. I believe there is another public place right next to it, so it is kind of tricky to find. It is normally zoned residential, so you’ll just have to poke around a bit to find it. If you have the ocean at the top of your screen, it should be on your right hand side. Hope this helps!

EDIT: I checked in game and it is right across the street from the Art Museum and the Hospital.

Oh thank you so much! 🙂
Hehee, I made a family for it already right when I got this home last night and just placed it somewhere, it’s working out amazing. 🙂 Lols, did you ever think of doing another apartnment-like home like this again?

  7. xTwilightxLovex said,

By the way, I just tried placing it on the 270 Sunnyside Blvd, and it’s not working? Any help… please?

    • breannestone said,

      April 25, 2010 at 4:12 pm

Hmmm…that is where it was built, so it should pop right in. What problem are you having exactly?

EDIT: I just went in game and placed it in another Sunset Valley and it worked fine. Are you sure that you have it at the correct address? It should be placed directly in front of the public pool. You will have had to demo a pre-existing loft to place this one and there should be two lofts to either side of this lot.

  8. xTwilightxLovex said,

    April 25, 2010 at 5:12 pm

Yeah i found the right adress, it’s where the Working Friends lived, and i moved their lot and tried putting mine there, but it said “Contents are to big for this lot” 😦

    • breannestone said,

      April 25, 2010 at 5:56 pm

That is so strange! What size is the lot showing to be? It should be 20×30, which is what the original lot was. I have downloaded it from my page on the Exchange (just to check) and installed it in a new Sunset Valley and it installed fine. Did you by change set it down on a larger lot while you were trying to find a place for it and then move it? I really have no idea why it won’t place on that lot for you.

EDIT: Wait a minute, Twilight. Are you referring to “Sunnyside Loft” or “Country Romance”? I was assuming that you were referring to the loft, as this comment was left under that page. Are you actually talking about Country Romance? If you are, Country Romance should be place at 55 or 43 Waterlily Lane.

  9. xTwilightxLovex said,

    April 26, 2010 at 2:29 pm

Oh no, I was talking about the loft 🙂
Um, well maybe it’s because I was in the middle of a game, when I clicked “Edit Town” and tried to move it then. Hehee, that’s what i think is wrong. I bet you any money. Lols

I will ! 🙂 Lols, but honestly I don’t know when I will exactly because i’m recently playing a family in that lot. =] Hehee, so if i have any more issues with that Bree Bree, I’ll let you knoww. ! ^_^

    Hey Hey Hey You! =]
Lol, Bree I just wanted to tell you that it worked! It allows me to place the home there now. 🙂

I just have another question for you Bree:
Are you working on another project by any chance?

    • breannestone said,

      May 4, 2010 at 3:48 pm

      Hi Twilight!

Yay! I’m so glad it placed nicely for you. I am working on two projects right now. Currently, I am working on a flip for someone in the Flip Thread. It is a Spanish-style Villa and I am very excited about it. Thankfully, it is coming along nicely, but it will be a lot of work as the requestor would like the build/landscape/interior design altered. I’m estimating about at least a week’s worth of work before it’s done. When it is finished, I will showcase it in the Flip Thread as well as here under the “Flips” section of my page.

I am also working on another loft. This one is a bit larger in size than my previous loft and will have a mid-century feel to it. Once I am done with the Spanish Villa flip, I will most likely get back on track with it and hopefully see it through. I have a bad habit of starting projects and then not finishing them. But we aren’t going to talk about that…

  12. xTwilightxLovex said,

    May 5, 2010 at 3:54 pm

Lols, well that’s fine.. we don’t need to talk about that! Haha.
Don’t worry, I do the same thing. Haha, well I mean sometimes I find interest in something and then sometimes I just let it go and forget about that small little interest I had. 😛
Lol, and reason being why I asked is because I thought that if you weren’t too busy . . . well I was curious if I could make a little home-design request, but since I see your quite busy with your homes, I won’t be a bother. 🙂

    • breannestone said,

      May 7, 2010 at 8:21 pm

Unfortunately, I do have my hands full right now but actually it is my rl obligations that are bogging me down. It will get better here in a few weeks or so, though. I don’t mind helping people out though when I get time. What were you looking for exactly?

  13. xTwilightxLovex said,

    May 9, 2010 at 8:12 am

Well, I hope everything gets better for you (Even though I don’t completely know the situation LOLS.)
Hehe, and well i’m into a lot of varities of homes . . . and I mean it changes everytime. But, for this (since I know your good at it) I was asking if you could maybe make a warm home that has like a vinyard and maybe a small garden. So, I guess you could call it a country but very elegant type home with a vineyard, and has wine shelves, and a small garden, all in one home that has nice and warm colors for a nice big family to live in. 🙂

Lols, sorry for the long message.. I was trying to describe it as good as I could without going overboard, Lol but I guess I already went OVERBOARD! hahahaa :))

    Thankss! Let me know ASAP!

Well, I may be able to come up with something like that once summer starts for me and school is out, but I may have something already in my Studio that might work for you. One of my earlier builds was a vineyard and is a decently large build. It has 4 bedrooms, if I am remembering correctly. There is also a small vegetable garden on the lot. It isn’t a cottage build, however. It is one of my Tuscan/Mediterranean builds, so if that isn’t the style that you are looking for then this won’t work for you. The lot was built long before WA came out, so the vineyard only has the traditional grapes on it, but you could replace many of them with the various WA grapes if you liked. I also used some CC patterns that won’t transfer, so you would need to dl those for them to show up.

The lot is Vittoria Vineyard. Here are pics: Victtoria Vineyard

Well Bree, I did mostly download all your homes to tell the truth! hahaa, I just thought it was cute if you could incorporate a home that’s like a classic and old fashioned home that has very rich and nice furniture. But then with a gorgeous vineyard in a sunroom with other plants and then downstairs you get to make it. Lol does it make any sense?

    • breannestone said,

      May 13, 2010 at 4:26 pm

Well Twilight, that sounds like a house that I wouldn’t mind building, but it would most likely have to be something that I would work on when summer hits here in a few weeks. Once that happens, I should have some more free time and I may be able to come up with something. I could get specifics from you later on what you were looking for exactly. =)

Well Bree, I would honestly love to e-mail you, but sadly I cannot because the website on which my e mail is, their system is going to be down a little while for maintence. So if anything, I could just answer any questions you have on the house, before you start building it.

    • breannestone said,

      May 15, 2010 at 3:30 pm

That’s fine. I can also be reached through PM over at Builder’s Boulevard, Sim Interior Design, and The Simmer’s Society. That would also be an easy way to touch base with me.

    Okay, BAD NEWS!:

I cannot connect with any of them, i’m soo sorry. This is the only way i have connection towards you and .. well it’s fine with me but i don’t know how your feeling about itt?

    • breannestone said,

      May 16, 2010 at 12:32 pm

It’s fine, Twilight. It’s just easier to have discussions for something like this through PMs or e-mails. Why don’t you just give me a list of what you are looking for here and I will make note of it and when I have time I can see about putting something together for you, trying to adhere to your specificiations. Be as specific as possible with what you are looking for. It’s easier on me if you are. I will let you know if something won’t work. Be specific for everything, from lot size to style, colors to the number/type of rooms, anything you want included and so on.

    Continued Message…

    Also, I almost forgot.!
Spend as much money as you want with this beautiful home i’m sure you’ll be able to design for mee 🙂

    THERES NO LIMIT WHATSOEVER!

    • breannestone said,

      May 17, 2010 at 4:22 pm

Lol, I got it. If I have any questions, I’ll let you know. Also, you are fine with me using CC, correct? I generally try not to overuse it, but I prefer to use it over Store items, as not everyone has the same Store items and the subsitutions are horrible in-game when you don’t have the particular item that a creator used. And am I correct in understanding that you only want 3 bedrooms?

  18. xTwilightxLovex said,

    May 17, 2010 at 5:37 pm

    Yes CC is absolutely fine.!
Because I know how good you are with designing and creating your own objects for The Sims 3.
But yes, the three bedrooms is one master bedroom for the parents, one cute little seperate nursery, and a children’s room that can consist of a boy-and-girl style? 🙂 Like a part for a boy and a part for a girl.

Lols, did I say that right? Like do you understand what i’m actually saying or getting at with the children’s room situation?

    • breannestone said,

      May 17, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Lol, yes I understand. If it comes out wrong, then you will know that I didn’t understand. Am I also correct in assuming that you are looking for a traditional type style for the exterior as well? Something stately and manorish? Also, if you could, I would like an exact address of where you want it located in Sunset Valley.

  19. xTwilightxLovex said,

    May 18, 2010 at 3:06 pm

    Adresses possible in Sunset Valley:
    180 Redwood Pkwy
    130 Redwood Pkwy
    15 Summer Hill Court.

P.S.: I’m not completely good at choosing the adresses. Um, you may choose any adress you’d like in Riverview (if you have installed) or Sunset Valley. 🙂 It’s all up to you, designer. Also, may i make one little change? May you make one more children’s room for me? (It doesn’t matter for what gender) So then it’ll be a total of: One seperate nursery, master bedroom for parents, a room that has 2 beds for a girl and boy, and then one more child’s room for whatever gender.

Lol, if you have any suggestions please tell me.!! =]
    Thank Thank You!

    • breannestone said,

      May 19, 2010 at 5:07 pm

Lol, got it. If I’m remembering correctly (going to have to go in game to verify), 180 Redwook Pkwy may be the “bad” lot. It glitches things that you build so that if you move the build to another location it raises it up and makes a mess. I will have to double check it, though to be sure. Since you aren’t picky about the location, I will take a look around then and figure something out.

  20. xTwilightxLovex said,

    May 20, 2010 at 1:46 pm

Lol, all right that’s fine with me.

Haha, I mean . . . of course i’m not a picky person. I’m just anxious to see how you incorporate all those rooms in that housee!

    Hey Bree 🙂

It’s been quite a while since we’ve talked. I was just curious though on how things were going? I mean did you get to start the housee. ^_^

    • breannestone said,

Hi Twilight! I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, but we have been on vacation and away from the Internet for most of the summer and I haven’t been keeping up on my Sim accounts. My summer has been busy and I haven’t even opened the game since May. To be completely honest, I most likely won’t be simming for a while. I have kind of lost interest in playing since I’ve become involved in other interests and work will be starting back up again for me in a few weeks. Once I get back into it though, I will try to make your house one of my first projects. I’ll let you know when I start.

This house is AMAZING!!! How did you make this website? Is wordpress free? I want to make a website to put my houses on but I don’t know where to start. Any tips?

    • breannestone said,

      July 19, 2010 at 3:41 pm

Hi Ksport! WordPress is free and once you get the hang of it, not too tough to figure out. You should be able to go to WordPress.com and sign up for free. Once I had the account all set up, I found and watched a YouTube video that was a tutorial for creating a WordPress page and that helped with some of the details. Other than that, I just explored all of the buttons in the Dashboard (which is where you work from when altering your pages) and played around with some different things. If you check my link section, you will find a few of my friends who also have WordPress pages. I think they are all really happy with them!

Good luck! If you have any other questions, let me know and I will try to get the answers for you!

      • breannestone said,

        July 20, 2010 at 8:18 pm

Honestly, I don’t recall which one it was…it’s been so long. I remember just searching under “wordpress tutorial” on YouTube and I chose one of the higher viewed videos. There should be several there to choose from. I wish I could remember which one I watched, but I’m sure that there are several good ones out there to choose from.

Would it be okay by you if I had on my header of my page a picture of some of your custom stuff from this house? Also once I get it all set up and everything ( that might take awhile ) I will link your page from mine since you are helping me so much!
    Thanks!

    • breannestone said,

You just need to go to your Dashboard and click on “Appearance” and then choose “Widgets” from the drop down menu that appears. That will lead you to where you can add things to your site.
