Elle’s Open Lot

This flip was done as a group project for Elle2188.  Lightside, Allium, and I worked together to flip her lot to a more modern style.  Lightside flipped the build and landscaping portion of the lot, while Allium and I flipped the interiors.  Alli was in charge of the art studio and garage, and I took the main living areas.  Here is the portion of my flip:

If you are interested in checking out Lightside’s and Allium’s contribution to the flip, you can find the pics here in the Flip Thread:  http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/390/100864.page

If you are interested in downloading this lot, Elle has made it available on her page.  It can be found here:

Wowww!! Your amazing! That is a very nice house. Do you have any advice for me on how you build/flip these houses? Mine don’t turn out very well, and i’m set on being an architect.

Hi Lexie! Well, I think what works the best for me is trying to make my builds as realistic as possible. I often use blueprints and model my houses after real life houses (making the necessary adjustments of course for the constraints of the house) and I try to layout my interiors as a reall house might be laid out. I don’t like busy or super bright colors, so I tend to try to get a good mixture of solids/textures/patterns on my interiors and always tend to darken or mute them just a bit.

If you check my “Favorite Sites” section of my page, you will find some good links to sites that I use, such as Color Lover’s (for their color palettes), which often helps me with some of my color choices. A lot of what I do is just a bunch of playing around and trying different things out. Sometimes some things work, sometimes they don’t.

I also use the MOO (moveObjects on) cheat when I build and decorate to get a more realistic placement for my objects. I would also recommend downloading some of your favorite creator’s builds and checking them out in game to see what was done.

There are also some really good tutorials out there. Some of my favorites are from other Flip Members. Allium has created Landscaping Part 1 and Landscaping Part 2. Ruthless_KK has created Colors and Patterns.

      I hope this helps!
