Extreme Movie Mansion

This lot was a collaboration between several of the Flip members and myself for Fid’s Extreme Mansion Challenge.  Anjubee came up with the concept and was in charge of the build portion of this lot.  She did much of the landscaping as well.  SimEve, Peacemaker_ic, Allium, and myself were in charge of designing different rooms thoughout the mansion, as well as some landscaping around our assigned areas.

The concept behind this build was to create a mansion that could be used for movie makers and was designed to look like a movie set.  There are trailors on the set, a reception area, and a variety of rooms created for filming.  Here are some shots of my portion of the Extreme Movie Mansion:

If you are interested in downloading the Extreme Movie Mansion, it can be found on Anjubee’s page:

Note:  Unfortunately, we did not place in the contest due to a slip up on our part.  One of the requirements for the mansion was to have a pool.  Originally we had thought to do a set from “Jaws”, but ended up scrapping the idea and going with something else.  Well, none of us realized that by doing that, we were losing our pool and so we were disqualified due to this technicality.  Ah well…such is life…

I’m really amazed by the quality of the house! It’s very cool, kinda like 1800 France! :) I was wondering, how do you work together on a project like that? And how can I get involved with BnS and other contests?

Several of the other Flippers and myself did work together on this project. Anjubee came up with the idea and laid out the floorplan, detailing which rooms where which. Each of the members that was working on the project chose certain rooms to do. After Anju created the layout/build aspect of the lot and did some exterior work, she uploaded it to our Mediafire account. The next person downloaded it and continued on with their part. When they were finished, they uploaded the lot once more to Mediafire and it went on like that until the last person worked on it and completed it.

It takes a while because everyone has other projects going on and real life obligations, but it is fun. I would say (if I’m remembering correctly) that this project took us about 2 weeks to finish.

If you go over to the main site and check out the Creative Corner on the forums, you will find many neat projects like this going on, as well as the BnS weekly challenges. The gurus have even stickied a thread with lists of challenges and projects near the top of the Creative Corner. I would recommend checking those out to see if any of them interest you.

You may also want to consider joining some different sites, such as Builder’s Boulevard, Sim Interior Design, or The Simmer’s Society…all wonderful sites which offer a variety of challenges, on-going projects, and just a wonderfully fun atmosphere.
